Junior Asian Wrestling Championship 2018: Sachin Rathi And Deepak Punia Won Gold
Indian wrestlers Sachin Rathi and Deepak Punia bagged gold medals at the junior Asian Championships on Sunday in New Delhi. In the 74kg category final of freestyle wrestling, Sachin defeated Mongolia's Bat-Erdene Byambasuren by Victory by Fall (VFA).
On the way to the final, Sachin had defeated Ali Bakhtiar Savadkouhi of Iran in the semi-final, Bekzhan Kamchybekov of Kazakhstan in the quarter-final and Chiranuwat Chamnanjan in the qualification.
Deepak Punia, on the other hand, won the gold medal in the 86kg category by defeating Azat Gajyyev of Turkmenistan 10-0.
Sachin Rathi scripted a sensational turn around in the final bout while Deepak Puniya asserted his supremacy without fuss as India won two gold and as many bronze medals in the freestyle competition on the concluding day of the Junior Asian Wrestling Championship.
On the last day of the championship, four of the five Indian wrestlers reached the medal round with Suraj Rajkumar Kokate (61kg) and Mohit (125kg) winning bronze medals.
